Thank you for choosing to support Uplift Center for Grieving Children. Since our founding in 2000, Uplift has helped thousands of youth in Philadelphia who are grieving a death to heal and grow through their grief while strengthening their families, communities, and professionals' understanding of how best to respond to the needs of grieving children.
The loss of a loved one is a difficult experience, and youth often feel fearful, angry, and isolated after a death. Uplift offers therapeutic peer support groups for youth in grades K–12th that are supervised by a team of Master's degree-level clinicians who are trained to be trauma-responsive and healing-centered. Our curriculum uses games, creative activities, mindfulness techniques, and grief management skills that are tailored to the ages, developmental levels, and cultural experiences of participants.
Every year, Uplift's grief groups take place in 125 schools within Philadelphia, as well as virtual and in-person evening groups.
Uplift also offers caregiver groups to support adults raising a grieving child, education opportunities for professionals who work with children, and a toll-free helpline where callers can receive on-demand support, sign up for services, or be connected to complementary mental health and community support services.
All programs for grieving children and families are provided free of charge and do not require health insurance, pre-authorization, or immigration status disclosure. By donating to Uplift, you play a role in providing free, healing-centered and trauma-responsive grief support to youth and their caregivers in Philadelphia. Thank you for being part of Uplift’s community of support!
